In order to gather insights and begin optimizing your conversion rate, you need to install the Mouseflow tracking code on your site. We offer a native plugin for WordPress, that lets you easily install Mouseflow.
Note: If you do not have a Wordpress site please use our general installation guide instead.
This guide will walk you through the 3 short steps involved in enabling tracking for your WordPress site.
1. Log in to Mouseflow
Log in to your Mouseflow account and open the websites list.
Click on the </> symbol on the project you want Mouseflow installed. In the next prompt, select the option titled 'WordPress'.
Once you've opened the 'Installing Mouseflow Tracking code in WordPress' you can follow the instructions in the module, or continue to follow this guide and simply click "copy to clipboard" in the code box.
2. Install the 'Mouseflow for WordPress' Plugin
You can find the plugin and all the necessary instructions here: Mouseflow for WordPress.
Or you can install the plugin directly in your WordPress CMS by going to "yourWebPage/wp-login.php" and logging in.
Once you have logged in, please click on "Plugins" in the menu on the left-hand side and then click on "Add New" just below the "Plugins" link.
In the next screen (seen below) you can search for "Mouseflow" in the search bar in the upper right-hand corner.
Click the "Install Now" button next to the "Mouseflow for WordPress" tile and once the "Mouseflow for WordPress" plugin has been installed click the blue "Activate" button that appears where the installation button was before.
In the left hand menu find 'Mouseflow' and click on it.
Note: Before we can progress any further you'll have to get your Mouseflow Tracking code from step 1.
Click the "Insert Tracking Code" tile (see above screenshot) and Insert the snippet of code in the available field under "Insert Tracking code". Once you have pasted the Tracking code in and verified that it looks correct, please click "Save Changes".
3. Test Installation and Activate Tracking
Once you have completed adding the Mouseflow Tracking Code to your site you should refresh one of the pages that the code is on, this will let Mouseflow know that the installation has been made.
To begin recording traffic on your site, you need to activate tracking by clicking the Activate Tracking button from the Manage My Sites page.
You confirm that you will abide by Mouseflow terms and not collect Personal Identifiable Information (PII) by signing your name and clicking the button.
Tip: If you are not seeing the Activate Recording button (or popup) at this point, please try to visit your site in your browser's Private or Incognito mode, and do some clicking, scrolling and navigating while you're there.

Now go celebrate with your team while the insights pour in.
Once you have activated tracking, Mouseflow will automatically begin recording your visitors. You can check the Recording Status from the Manage My Sites page or you can click the play button to go to your Dashboard.
